‘Diamond Skies’ is the first (successful) attempt
at producing this using moving image. It is composed of evening video footage
(to create stylised light and contrast) with diamond masking layers. From 0:30
the distortion of the gradient sky against street lamps and other monochromatic
urban features really shows the graphic effect I was trying to achieve. At 0:40
and onwards the introduction of walls, bridges and increased frequency of
artificial lighting further enhances this. Overall the piece developed my understanding
of digital manipulation and use of footage. It has helped me narrow the style
of work I intend to produce as ‘finished pieces’
