Triangle Skies

Triangle Skies (test) from Richard Hunter on Vimeo.

As an evolution of the Lange inspired manipulation I looked to contemporary use of collage in art and design. ‘Cutting Edges – Contemporary Collage’ (2012) pointed me in a number of directions. Initially, the cover featured work of Jelle Matens (2009) led me to explore geometric masking (specifically triangle/diamond) as a method to distort and frame the composition.
‘Triangle skies’ attempts to recreate the juxtaposition of elements using the technique of layering footage sequenced at different speeds (previously used in ‘Side Window Slice’). Unfortunately the timing variation is too wide and rather than the masking and distorting the footage it defines what look like solid colour shapes over moving branches.
